FAQ
Frequently asked questions
01Should I choose counselling or coaching?
You do not need to decide before getting in touch. Counselling can help you make sense of your feelings, cope with a difficult situation or feel more emotionally settled. Coaching focuses on what you want to change or develop, the strengths you can draw on and the steps you could take. We can talk about which would suit you during the free 15-minute consultation.
02What can we talk about?
You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or how to put it into words. People often come to me to talk about:
- Emotional difficulties – stress, anxiety, sadness, exhaustion or a persistently low mood
- Relationships and family – romantic and family relationships, conflict, loneliness or setting boundaries
- Life changes and crises – losing a loved one, a breakup, divorce, a job change or other difficult life situations
- Personal and professional development – confidence, self-worth, recognising and developing your strengths, finding direction or developing as a leader
You are welcome to get in touch even if what is on your mind is not on this list.
03What happens during the free introductory consultation?
We spend 15 minutes talking about what brings you here and how I might help. You can ask questions and get a sense of whether you would feel comfortable working with me. There is no obligation to book another session.
04Do I need a doctor’s referral, and will my visits to a psychologist be recorded anywhere?
You do not need a referral from a doctor to book a session. Coachfulness is not a healthcare facility, and sessions are not provided as part of healthcare. The information you share during our work together is confidential and subject to a duty of confidentiality.
05What happens during the first session?
We talk in more detail about what brings you here, what you need and what you hope will change. Sometimes one session helps you see things differently or decide on a next step. At other times, we agree to meet over a longer period.
06Do I need to prepare for a session?
No. You do not need a list of topics or to know exactly what you want to say. Simply come with whatever is on your mind at the time.
07How many sessions will I need?
That depends on what you need and what you want to work on. One session may be enough, or you may benefit from ongoing support. Coaching usually involves several sessions, often up to 10. We do not have to focus on the same topic every time.
08Are our conversations confidential?
Yes. What you share in our sessions is confidential. I follow the ethical principles of psychological and coaching practice, with respect for your privacy and the trust you place in me.
09Can we meet online?
Yes. We can meet in person in Bratislava or online by video call, depending on what works best for you.
10How do you work?
I draw on psychology, existential coaching, mindfulness and my ongoing psychotherapy training in Alfred Adler’s Individual Psychology.
I start by understanding what you need, then adapt how we work together to suit you.
